I cannot believe it's been six years

Mercedes turned six last friday. It was a VERY exciting day for her at school. She got to buy lunch (a rare treat), was given a birthday crown to wear, a birthday bottle to carry around and take home, and shared pumpkin chocolate chip cookies with her class at snack-time to celebrate. Of course her class sang to her, as singing is a big part of their daily activities. When Daddy got home from work we went to dinner at a little local place called, "The Backyard Cafe," that makes their own ice cream. We brought the ice cream home (cherry-vanilla and birthday cake) and ate it with chocolate cake.

Then Mercedes FINALLY got to open her presents:

With a little help from Cooper, of course.

When Mercedes opened this princess clock she didn't look too excited. She kind of just stared at it with a blank expression. Brent and I tried to convince her to return it and get something that she'd really love, but she refused. When Brent set it up and Mercedes realized that it plays princess music and shines stars onto the ceiling she fell in love with it. What a girl!

Thank you for your generous gifts, and for making Mercedes feel special on her birthday.

Some Pictures

In the beginning...

So rather than emailing everyone with pictures, this is our family's new way of sharing our experiences. It's also an outlet for me (mom), since I rarely enjoy any adult conversation these days. With this pregnancy, we've become pretty much house-bound (meaning it's too hard and painful for me to move for us to go to the park or do fun things). We'll try to keep you up-to-date on all of the Bethers goings-on, and we'd love to hear any and all comments you might have to share. Hope to hear from you soon!
